Background
We work closely with Comms Consult in Bolton, and we look after a lot of their customers who face IT difficulties. One company in particular who we will call Company X, were having tremendous network difficulties, frequent disconnections from the internet and their phone system, freezing, crashing, slow PC’s.
Strategy and Implementation
A quick drive down the motorway to the centre of Manchester led us to this busy call centre. Said company had 18 computers on a peer to peer network. The issue to us was clear. We looked at all the PC’s and noticed that they all had a mixture of one or all of the following: Norton Internet Security, McAfee, internet toolbars, way too many programs loading up at startup, 1 gigabyte of RAM, different versions of Windows, and viruses! One PC even had three virus scanners all installed at the same time.
We arranged to go back the following day, with a view to cleaning up all the PC’s. Uninstall all anti virus programs, and install one universal security package. Install the Windows Updates, Anti Virus definitions, remove the internet toolbars, the popup programs, the flash games. Finally, any machines running on 1GB RAM were to be upgraded to two.
One day later, all work was carried out as planned, and the background issues were a thing of the past!
Outcome
Our relationship has grown and grown, almost in parallel to how Company X has grown. Control Alt Delete has since built supplied at least 50 PC’s to said company, printers and two fax machines. Not just that, we have installed all the CAT5 cabling (1.5km of the stuff!), installed new electric points to their new desks, supplied and installed a full size server cabinet to house their new servers and vast cabling.
A phenomenal amount of work has been put in, and they have now signed a Support Contract with us. This basically means they get priority support, phone help, email help, and monthly visits to maintain, service and clean all of their PC’s and IT equipment.
